What We Do
YWCA Lancaster has been working alongside you since 1889 to eliminate racism, empower women, and create a just future for Lancaster County. We believe in our collective power towards the elimination of racism, wherever it exists, by any means necessary.
Systemic racism and sexism are deeply ingrained into the fabric of our society. From our schools, to real estate, to voting rights, we all have a role to play in dismantling these systems. Our work is not a zero-sum game. Everyone will benefit from eliminating racism and empowering women. As Ella Baker said, “Give light and people will find a way.” Joining the Race Against Racism will help us bring light to the community.

What is the Race Against Racism?
YWCA Lancaster’s Race Against Racism is the longest consecutively run Race Against Racism in the nation! On this special day, we gather as a community, make our voices hear, and work to create change. All proceeds for the Race Against Racism will benefit the YWCA Lancaster’s Center for Racial and Gender Equity.
Your Role
On average, someone must see/hear something multiple times before they act upon it, so we need to spread the word of YWCA Lancaster’s Race Against Racism to as many people as possible. Because this is an agency wide effort, we must use all available communications methods we have. That’s where you come in.
