Our racial equity education and training programs will:

  • Deepen the knowledge that individuals can utilize to become more effective anti-racist advocates
  • Help build commitments to policies and practices that create long-term, sustainable change
  • Invite open dialogue and discussion towards mutual understanding raise awareness of oppression on the interpersonal, institutional, and systemic levels

Racial Equity Institute

This is an intensive, multi-day training that arms participants with a foundational analysis of the systemic and institutional power of racism. Participants come away with a common language and understanding to do the internal work needed to dismantle racism and to communicate with others about racism and its manifestations. Participants will also develop working tools to identify and address racism within their respective spheres of influence.

The Racial Equity Institute

Today, we remain committed to ensuring that we show up to advocate against the oppression that many groups and individuals endure. During these unprecedented times, everyone is trying to understand and respond as quickly as possible. Our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women is more crucial now than ever before.

This is an intensive, multi-day training that arms participants with a foundational analysis of the systemic and institutional power of racism. We have committed to meet the community need for information by providing this deeply impactful and life-changing material or our Listen, Learn, and Lead sessions to the community every month at an affordable rate. Customized trainings for groups/businesses/schools are available to meet your needs as well.

August’s REI offering is a special collaboration between Franklin & Marshall College, Lititz Chooses Love, and F&M Blackbirds for a multi-disciplinary look at racial justice, equity, and how those principles can be–and are–applied to our community. Lunch will be provided each day and includes a Black history tour of downtown Lancaster.

This special Racial Equity Institute will be part workshop, and part community immersion, where you will learn from local leaders who are embedded in the work of racial, gender, and LGBTQ+ justice.

Eliminating racism. Empowering women. This is our mission.  We are part of a national movement of over 200 local agencies who are fearlessly moving toward this future.  YWCA Lancaster has offered the Racial Equity Institute style training for over 20 years in the Lancaster region.

We bring a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, especially in facilitation and training. But our social justice work is not limited to our core program.

Our social justice staff is ready and prepared to work with your organization in a specialized way to find solutions that work for your company or organization. Your company might use a variety of terms — diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural competence – to describe the skills or capacity they are trying to build. Whatever the terminology, we bring a deep commitment to those issues of racial and social justice.

That customization could take the form of consulting on your organization’s work policies and HR practices. It could be in facilitating a difficult discussion with your leadership team. It could be designing and delivering custom workshops and training events that assist your company or organization in their pursuit of specific social justice or inclusion goals.
