The HAArt Project:
Amplifying Art to combat Sexual Harassment, Abuse & Assault
The HAArt Project The HAArt Project is a part of April’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#saam)! The project aims to be a powerful and creative outlet for loved ones and survivors of sexual harassment, abuse and assault to share their experiences through expressive art. Research supports that expressive arts is a way for survivors to convey what is often unspeakable, to explore and transform emotions related to their traumatic experiences. The HAArt Project encourages survivors to restructure and reframe, explore and illustrate their trauma in this empowering way.
About the Project
The HAArt Project is a daily virtual art exhibit and artist spotlight via YWCA Lancaster’s social media pages. Anyone impacted by sexual trauma is encouraged to submit expressive art related to their experience to spread awareness and build community. Submissions may include: poetry, painting, drawing, digital art, photography, fiber art, performance art, animation, short stories and more.
