Scavenger Hunt – Site 4

Crispus Attucks Community Center

So much rich history on the way to this location. This area was deeply impacted by redlining but thrives in ways you will soon read in this clue. This location is named after an icon of the anti-slavery movement in the mid-19th century.

Supporters of the abolition movement lauded him for playing a heroic role in the history of the United States. He is regarded as the first person killed in the Boston Massacre and thus, the first American killed in the American Revolution. This site offers programs and cultural events which strive to improve the quality of life for youth and families in Lancaster by providing services that promote community prosperity, physical and mental health; and by offering programs and cultural events which preserve the African American heritage.

If you are still thinking of where to head, this location hosts Lancaster’s Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, Black History Month events, and Juneteenth Celebration. This is also home to the African American Veterans Project, the African American Historical Society, and the Infamous Unstoppables.
