Lancaster City’s first Director of Neighborhood Engagement, Milzy Carrasco, is a committed member of the community. She is using her passion, experiences, and skills to ensure that Lancaster neighborhoods are diverse, vibrant places for relationships to foster and grow. In just one year, Milzy has made big changes for Lancaster residents. Homeless is down, and many individuals living under sub-par landlords have been found alternative homes.
Milzy has a big heart for her neighbors. Recently she created the Neighborhood Leaders Academy, where residents receive training and tools to improve the community. The academy focuses on individuals of color, whose voices are not always heard. In addition to her policy work, Milzy has been instrumental in several community events such as coordinating the Police and Community Engagement, launching the Neighborhood Working Group, and supporting by the Women of Color Brunch at City Hall.
