YForward

The YWCA Lancaster is moving forward – Yforward! Through this new initiative, we will be adding new affordable housing units for future residents, as well as refurbishing space to expand our services in Lancaster County.

What we're building together:

16 New Affordable Housing Units

Construct sixteen (16) new living spaces, including nine (9) suites with private kitchenettes and bathrooms, and seven (7) dorm-style rooms with shared kitchens and bathrooms.

Reimagined Sexual Assault Prevention and Counseling Center

Transition the Sexual Assault Prevention and Counseling Center from the 3rd floor to the ground floor, creating a trauma-informed space with private offices, community rooms, and secure waiting areas, as well as a new private and discrete entrance.

Enhanced accessibility

In addition to the new entrance, we will also be constructing a new, ADA-compliant elevator that can support a stretcher for medical emergencies and increased mobility for our residents.

Building for community, with the community:

Administered by Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Engagement, the Neighborhood Assistance Program assists with reviving Pennsylvania’s economy by providing tax credits and targeted assistance to distressed areas and low-income populations with a strategic focus on community participation and collaboration among residents, nonprofits, and businesses. SPP, a category of NAP, focuses on specific needs in distressed communities, including COVID-19 Pandemic Recovery and Social Justice.
