YWCA Lancaster has 5 Emergency Family Shelter rooms available for parents with children up to age 18. Emergency Family Shelter is a short-term shelter. During a family’s stay, they will receive weekly case management to assist with housing, employment, mental health and any other additional needs they may have.
To qualify for Emergency Family Shelter, families must be pre-screened and referred through CHART. If you or someone you know is seeking shelter, please call 211 to begin the process.
From December through March, Lancaster County Council of Churches organizes an overnight Winter Shelter for single women and women with children which is housed at YWCA Lancaster. By hosting Winter Shelter, YWCA Lancaster provides a warm and safe place to sleep as well showers and lockers. Women with children sleep in a separate area for the comfort of all guests. LCCC provides snacks and beverages, and staffs Winter Shelter through volunteers from various houses of worship throughout Lancaster County.
Once open, Winter Shelter runs seven days a week from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. For more information, contact Lancaster County Council of Churches at 717-291-2261.
